Because they had to change some parts. Like Jons original Girl who returns to tell him he gave her cancer. Didnt happen in the novel!
The ending changed the octopus attack to energy blasts made to replicate Manhattans power. That was ok, but the movie shows that the news stand owner and reader. both die.
Felt awkward to me, since in the comic he speaks so much.
Then again you can say well Rorsach died awkwardly too. But he is supposed to die. In both pieces. The news stand guy wasnt shown to be dead.
They also change Jons final conversation with Adrian (Ozy). | |

(Actually, yes it did...When was the last time you read it? She talks to Doug Roth, he confronts Jon at the TV show.)

(Again, yes he is. He does the same thing in the comic as the movie- throws himself in front of the kid that was reading at his stand. Later, when they're showing the 2-page spreads of the devastation, you clearly see the newstand owner and kid laying there....)

(Only the way it lays out. The content of the conversation is virtually unchanged...)
