The Triumphant Return??

For a long time I've been in hardcore lurk mode. I'm hoping to change that with this post. Where to post this is a bit of an issue though. I don't know if I should post it in the Introduction section, the Help section, or the Saloon. So it's going here in the saloon where it can be moved or split up by mods as they deem necessary.

The first thing I want to cover is why I left. I'm not trying to attack any or all of you, I'm just going to cover my opinions and feelings. If you don't care, or are too easily offended, skip this (fairly long) paragraph.

I went lurk because I was beginning to feel that the atmosphere of his board had changed, and that if I didn't follow 100% I would be looked upon as a "second class member". In regards to the micro heroes; heads were becoming smaller, colors were coming in more than three shades, hands were changing, and original lines were coming at a breakneck pace. Templates fell out of popularity, and almost into being vilified.
Here's the point of contention. I can't draw, or paint in real life, and I sure as hell can't do it on a computer. This leads to a few traits in my work that not everyone may appreciate:
- My micro's have hugely disproportionate heads
- You won't encounter one of mine that has more than three shades of a fill color.
- I use old style hands mainly because they provide good reference points because...
- I can't make my own lines, so I frankenstein and use templates.
This last point seems to cause people to go into fits. So I tried asking for some constructive criticism. All I basically got was "try harder". That's kind of like telling a blind man to open his eyes wider if he wants to see. It doesn't work that way.
So I basically "closed up shop" and went lurk. I still make my own micro heroes, but I don't present them because I wanted to get damned good at what I did before I came back. Now as much as I hate to brag about myself I think I've gotten to that point.
I'll even give you an example:

For this micro set you'll have to excuse the use of works by other people without credit. I never planned on posting it, so I ignored the credit requests of others. I think that it's endlessly stupid to request credit, but that's a debate for another day, and a rule that I will try to follow to the best of my ability in the future. I make micro's to relax, so leaving wasn't that hard, but after a while not sharing them gets a little boring.

So taking all of what I've already mentioned into consideration I've decided to return under the circumstance that I post nothing but my best work. You'll probably see mostly universes since I like my making my own characters and usually make up some sort of story behind them anyway. If I do, however, make a "one off" or existing character, it will end up in a gallery.


Now this leads me into the second part of my post.
I have a universe currently in production and I need a partner. Yeah I know it sounds ass backwards, me ranting then having the audacity to ask for assistance on something. Just hear me out. This universe is going to be done right and all out. Prologue, Characters, Bios, Story, and a musical soundtrack. The reason I need someone is the fact that I need confidence that what we produce will be the absolute best and rightfully impressive when presented.
What I'm looking for in my production partner (all of which are negotiable to a degree):
- Someone who can assist me with all aspects and ideas of this universe. Including micros.
- Someone who is very open minded in regards to theological and philosophical aspects of humanity.
- Someone who doesn't mind coarse [18+] language.
- Someone who can imagine and think about things dark, gloomy, scary, evil, and full of doom. This ideally would be just as dark or darker than the universe of Silent Hill.
- Someone with an appreciation for all metal and rock music, including it's hardest and darkest forms. (This last one is very helpful but not required)

In regards to the universe itself, it will be presented all at one time, after it is 100% completed in production. You will need to be okay with me communicating with you over an instant messenger service such as MSN or YIM to accomplish this project. Please don't wait or hesitate to contact me via PM if you are interested.

If this doesn't go anywhere I will take it as a sign from the board as a cue to return to lurking at this time. At this time I will end this post and see where it takes me.

Wow, long read! Well in all honesty, I'd love to assist you in any of this (but don't expect me to do it all! ) and welcome back! I thoroughly enjoy metal, and universes darker than silent hill so I'd def. be up to at least partially (if not fully) assisting you in this

I don't think the atmophere changed that much, and I don't think you would have been a second class member, and by the way what is a second class member ? cause I sure as hell don't know what that is.

That's only some members, I'll never vilify the use of template cause I depend a lot on them, I'm happy with my big heads but I won't tell people to use them is they don't want to, each micro maker has his own style, we are not carbon copies of each other. I keep my hands mostly true to the original templates, with a few exceptions. As for the shading part, 2 can be enough. Sometimes, more is not better

Well since you've asked, only mods responded to this, and Dax got all bent out of shape over my opinions.

However, Our moderators are numerous, and I'm sure before their promotion, they would've responded in much the same way. Also, Dax got bent out of shape because he was trying to defend the entire board, not just himself.

So I'm coming back.

in a way i can understand you cause of leaving there was this time in which this board tried to "force" user into getting better more like the creative waws.. i think it is a good model for all that want it that way.. but for people that just wanna have fun its..hell
the mib was always more the fun place and not the get better place and there was this special period it realy had to be
more realistic more shades moire AA more self drawn..
but it was just a phase

let me tell you i tried some of the new HAVE-to´s .. kept what i liked and left the rest where it is.. all in all i think im just making micros the same way i did before just better

No one ever really push anything on anyone where they HAD to adapt to their way of microing, I and many members of the staff wouldn't allow that. Sucks that you felt like that though.

But no worries, ever, and this goes for everyone, no one will EVER be able to force people to do something with their art if they don't want to.

HOWEVER, we do have have some VERY talented Advisers who are willing to help those who want to be helped.
