Not a micro, just a really big story about my superhero Haste.

Born in 1989, Hayden Lawrence was an only child. Over his years through school he had passed with flying colors in generally every subject all the way up to college. He majored in physics and sciences during his highschool career. When he graduated from college at the age of 22, he became a scientist of sorts.

One day, he was working on an experiment to help humankind by using certain chemicals that when mixed form a weight loss medicine that temporarily hightened the metabolism rate. However, as a side-effect it also had a chance to give the user a mysterious boost in speed; not by much- it wouldn't make an average man into a cheetah, but it raised their speed enough to be noticable. He had been experimenting to rid this side-effect from the drug when he accidentally messed up his proportions.

In a flash he saw white light and heard a deafening explosion. Hours later he awoke in a hospital room with his now fiance Keely sitting in a chair next to him. Once she noticed he was awake she hurried to him and asked him if everything was feeling ok. He responded with a groggy but sure 'yes'. She then explained to him what happened to him and why he was there.

A few months later, while running to help his recovering (it temporarily weakened his muscles in his legs because of the way he fell), he realized that he was only in a mere jog and he could outrun most of the large trucks that were driving along the main roads. Months after that, once he had fully recovered, he realised he had a gift. He could run as fast as the fabled superman, or even 'The Flash'. This amazed him.

3 years later he had married Keely, and they were living in a fairly nice ranch house on the outskirts of the city. He had adopted a superhero persona named 'Haste' and would have to save the day on a fairly regular basis. One day, Keely had gone out to get groceries in the city and Hayden sent her out on her way. Not twenty minutes later, he received a call from the police chief that there was a bank robbery in progress. Haste stated he would be there in a flash.

When Haste arrived on scene, he saw that it must have been the whole precinct out in front of the National Bank. The S.W.A.T. team had just arrived but had orders to not move unless Haste had difficulties with the robber. The police chief came up to Haste and explained the situation.

"It seems that the robber has a few hostages inside. He has a bomb strapped to his chest and threatens to blow it unless we give him the money in the bank and let him go with no charges. I really didn't know what else to do but call you."

Haste looked into the building through the front plate glass door windows, then back at the chief.

"I'll see what I can do with the hostages first. Any clue on how many there are?"

The police chief thought a moment. He looked towards the door, and then around to the squad cars.

"If I remember correctly it was twelve civillians.."

Haste looked towards the building and then ran in. He came back in a matter of moments with all twelve very motion sick ex-hostages. He looked over to the chief.

"Sir, I got the hostages, but for some reason every time I get close to the man inside there is an immensely loud ringing noise...somehow it throws me off balance...you're going to need S.W.A.T. though, and right away his bomb has not even 3 minutes left on it.."

The chief looked at his walkie-talkie and called in for S.W.A.T. to take care of the matter. They moved in swiftly and it seems that right as they did, the bomber notice it. In a matter of seconds the bank exploded sending cars, bricks and people flying. Haste caught and tossed most of the humans a safe distance away from the blast, but couldn't do anything for what he saw next.

Time stood still as he looked in horror. The gas station in the lot behind it exploded. His car-his wife's car was tossed forty feet in the air, flaming, onto its roof. He stared unable to move at the scene. When he finally regained control he bolted over to the car and by pure adrenaline and speed he ripped the door off and pulled his wife's dead body from the wreckage...
