History : At a young age, Spencer was abandoned by his parents, and was adopted by an abusive man. He was picked up by a local gang, and quickly climbed ranks, developing a violent and bitter personality. Accused of a murder, Smith went on the run from the police. One night he was followed into a Nuclear Power Plant, and a shoot out followed. The nuclear reactor was damaged, and the pipes started to rupture and burst, letting out the radioactive steam needed to power the generator. Suddenly cornered close by the the violently shaking pipes, Smith was saved when the pipes exploded and he was shot with radioactive steam, vapourizing him on the spot. Unknown to the police, however, Spencer had surived and gained the ability to turn into a haze like substance, equal to that of steam or smoke.
Surprised by his new abilities, he decided to use them to his own personal gain, and started robbing banks and stores, to earn an easy buck. With the ability to turn to smoke, nothing could hold him. The frst meeting with Battle Beetle gained him the name SteamPunk, when Beetle dubbed him that on his appearence and power.
