| So... I'm almost done with my next Spider-man themed redesign. It's a multi-part micro, it'll also be the first micro with a mask. Once I finish off all the parts I post it. And thanks for all the comments on what has been posted so far. - Quester wrote:
- I only say Ock as it seems much more of a challenge. I mean how on Earth do you re-imagine something that specific in design.
Actually.... It's not all that hard. Ol' Doc Ock is quite general in his design: He's just some guy with mechanical "arms" attached to him. It's the only real constant to his design over the years. One could really do whatever they wanted with him & I do have a re-imaginging of him in mind so he mostly will be the 2nd foe to show up in this project. - Quester wrote:
- That said if you kept with the Oriental overtones found in your current villain something down that route could be wildly different.
Not sure if my idea for Doc Ock is "wildly different" but it is in a different direction. - Quester wrote:
- I say this purely to inspire you and point out how exciting a total departure in tone may be. As your Venom attests to.
The Asian Venom has a simple story behind him: in the original design for him he had a mask, the mask had an Asian feel to it. So I added in other elements of that to the design. But as the micro progressed I wasn't really feeling the mask so I took it off. Not wanting to waste a mostly complete micro I kept the other Asian elements & completed the micro as you see here.

| Well...just YES! Really love how you have taken a fairly tricky design (Spidey) and managed to work out a pretty clever variation and a theme you've been able to carry through. Nicely done | |

There isn't just a "jacket like feel", he is wearing a jacket - Quester wrote:

Spider-Man's design is not all that tricky. You just boil it down to the basic parts (The colors Red & Blue, spider webs & a spider logo) then work from there. Then for a sense of continuity between micros: you use the similar colors (most of the time it's the same colors just changing the hue here & there) & keep similar elements on each. and thanks - Spaz wrote:

| i don't know about anybody else. I love these Spider-Man designs. Very fresh take on the characters. They have almost a DC feel to them. Like if DC had envisioned Spider-Man in the late '80s and early '90s. | |

Another comment regarding Doc Ock. Not that I don't mind getting the comments on him, I thought it was a good idea (hense why I made it) but I thought Dr. Warren's design was just as good an idea. Guess no one else thinks so or it's just getting overshadowed by the tentacles. *sigh* - azrael wrote:

Everyone seems to like them too. Well... maybe not everyone else. The people who have seen them & commented seem to like them - azrael wrote:

Maybe. I don't know. The 2 Spider-Man costumes I've made I thought had a very Sci-Fi feel to them. Peter's felt very old school, Pulp era Sci-Fi, Very Flash Gordon. Where as Ben's felt very more recent Sci-Fi. Not sure what it feels like but it definitely has a Sci-Fi feel to it. But then Spider-Man has always been a comic books rooted in science. I guess the idea that these designs come from the late 80's/early 90's is sort of true. I did look at a number of different Spider-Man costumes when I was making these. The Scarlet Spider & the Spider-Man's Black suit are from that time period. I was also inspired by the Spider-Man Unlimited costume & the Spider-Man 2099 costume: 2 costumes also from the Early 90's. Not sure what the next Spider-Man character I'll do is. Not sure I'll do any other one, I'm going to be busy out in the real world for much of next week & this was just something to fill time until I started my Elf project for this year which will be starting up soon.

| I preferred Miles if that's any consolation. I think I would have liked doc more with a more human/cyborg face. I had a feeling that you'd be flipping it on its head and making the only organic part of him the arms so while I like it the head fell outside my expectation. Still nice but miles had an elegance and design style that reminded me of why I liked your professor Micros (more of those pls BTW) | |

I could have gone in an even more Alien direction with his face but I liked the face I gave him, I think it's Human enough. As for a "cyborg" face: that would have mean he was a cyborg in the first place. I think of this version of Doc Ock to be an "Octopus" like alien who uses a mechanical suit to better get around. Sort of like Krang from the old Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon. The Robot "body" was made partly because I wasn't sure how to make his body. The original plan didn't have any robotic elements to him but after trying a few things & not liking them. I tried something else & that something else was the robot "body". - Quester wrote:

EWWWWWWWWW!!!!! Why would a Robot have 4 or more Human arms attached to it? That's just gross. But I think I did "flip it on it's head": It's not a human with mechanical tentacle like arms attached to him but a Alien who has tentacles. - Quester wrote:
- so while I like it the head fell outside my expectation.
So... make your own that is within your expectations - Quester wrote:

Thanks Regarding the Professor micros: I'd have to see if I still have those. I did lose some stuff a year or so back. Plus, I'd have to have some idea for the project, that's partly why I stopped doing it

See an octopus doctor is definetly an interesting way to go and the micro def shows that. Have you seen the 1602 doc ock?
