Task's Stuff -01/04 - Blackbriar Thorn

Well, not really a new micro just a quick edit.

From Issue #2 of the original Authority series, the Doctor wore a shorter version of the coat/robe thing he wore in issue #1, so here it is...

Well, no more Authority today, but I will be continuing with them soon, so hold on.

For today I finally give you the bios for Kreature and some other characters.

So first up... the star of the show...

Kreature



Name: Dan Hyde

Powers/Abilities: Able to shift into a form with animal-like physiology, with increased strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, agility, etc.

Bio:
10 years ago -
Dan Hyde is the 11 year old son of renown geneticists Alister and Katherine Hyde. The Hydes gain notoriety after working on the Human Genome Project. Now working with Darren and Faye Pittsley, they are now looking for an answer to the growing world food crisis. Too this end they have begun to look at the genetic modification of both plants and animals.
Dan was desperate to go to where his parents working and see the new state of the art lab. So after, months of asking pestering they finally relented and agreed to take him in to the lab for one day. The Pittsleys saw this as a good opportunity to take their son, Wesley, to the lab as well, in the hopes he would take some interest in what they did, and to give the reclusive and shy boy the chance to make a new friend.
Eventually the day came, and Dan could not wait, while Wesley just wanted to stay at home. After a quick talking to about the dangers of touching things, the boys where allowed to wander around. Dan was amazed by everything, looking as closely as he could at everything, but never touching. Wesley, was bored out of his mind, so he left Dan and walk off on his own. He soon came across the machine his parents used to introduce new DNA samples to cells. Temptation and boredom got the better of him at that moment, as he began to turn the dials, and press the bottoms on the machine.
"Don't touch that!" shouted Dan when he saw Wesley playing about with the machine.
"And what if I don't?" Wesley replied, playing his hand on the test plate of the machine, the delicate and thin needles just centimeters for his hand.
"Just come away" said Dan, pulling at Wesley's hand in an attempt to move him. "Take you hand out and come over here".
"Make me", Wesley said as he continued to push buttons.
Suddenly the machine whirred into life, and a split second later, both boys felt the needles pierce their skin.
Recoiling back, the boys both looked at their hands. Dan's with his single tiny wound, and Wesley's with a neat ring of five. Finally, Wesley had had enough of the machine and, seeing as how the machine hurt him, he would hurt it. He began to hit the machine with anything he could find, hands, beakers, test tubes in an attempt to break it. See he needed to be stopped, Dan pushed him away with all his strength. Wesley was sent toppling into a pair of lab stools, which were sent careening into a near by wall. More specifically into the labs main gas supply switch. The force of the stools impact ruptured the value, causing gas to flow out, and fill the lab as the boys continued to fight.
The air around the boys ignited, as the gas make contact with an open flame form a Bunsen burner within the lab, seconds lab the walls exploded, followed by others throughout the complex.
Dan came round in the ambulance, but with no idea how he arrived there. He heard the paramedic telling hi parents he had hit is head in a explosion, which had resulted in some memory loss. He was just glad to see his parents though, who told him a gas main had ruptured and caused a explosion that had pretty much destroyed the lab. However, the didn't care as he was safe. As the ambulance left the scene for the hospital, with the Hydes in the back, Dan began scratching at a little red mark on his hand and wondered where it had come from.

Now-
Dan Hyde is happy with his life, regardless of what other think of it. What does it matter that he had dropped out of university?, he didn't really want to go, his parents pretty much force him too. Why did he have to get a "good steady job" as he father said?, he was happy with his job picking orders at the manufacturing factory. It did him fine, why couldn't his parents see that.
In truth, his parents could see that, but they could also see what he could have if he tried. He had become what they had feared. Smart, but lazy. Talented, but directionless. Able to talk for hours about comic book and cartoon, and be able to tell you every number one single of the past 8 years, but with now qualifications employers wanted.
Dan could see their point, but today he didn't care, because tonight he was going out.

Walking home from the bar, Dan decided to talk the short cut back to his flat, though the back alleys and walkways. He knew there was a risk o being mugged, but he wanted to get home.
He was being stabbed before he even knew there was someone following him. The man withdrew his knife from Dan's chest, threw him to the floor and proceeded to take anything Dan had in his pockets before fleeing. Left to die in a pool of his own blood, Dan wished he had gone the long way home, and he wished he had done more. The world slowly fading, the last thing he heard was a dog barking somewhere near by.
Dan opened his mouth to scream, but only a whimper came out. He thought he was dead, but this was a new pain. It felt as if his bones were breaking, and his skin was on fire. Looking at his arms, he was terrified to see thick hairs growing, and he fingers elongate in to claws before his very eyes. Then the smells hit him. Damp earth, rotten rubbish, exhaust fumes, and blood. This smell excited him. This smell made him hungry.
He crawled, then stumbled to his feet, walking a few pace before breaking into a run. He needed food, and the hunger and blood lust drove him on, the city around him tinged red. Running though the alleyway, he came upon a woman begin mugged. He looked her up and down. Small. Weak. Easy. Food. His mind urged him to pounce at her. Then he saw the mugger. Competition. Fight. Kill. Win. The urge to prove himself the alpha male won out. The mugger was on his back and his face was being clawed at in seconds. Moments away from killing the man, the woman's screams, brought Dan out of his blood lust. Rising of the mugger Dan looked around confused, looked at the mugger then ran again.
He had run a long way from home before he had attacked the mugger, and it took him what seem like a eternity to reach his flat. Climbing up a fire escape and in through a window, he collapsed on the floor.
He awoke the next morning, thinking it was terrible dream. He rationalized him being on the floor, the result of too much to drink the night before, and blood must have been his own, the result of an injury when he collapsed. But no matter how hard he tried he couldn't explain the claw mark all over floor and window frame. He knows deep down what happened, and hopes he can control it.
Weeks later, Dan can control the changes, making the occur at will. He is now more excited and happy then ever. Having tested the limits of what he can now do, Dan beginning to like the idea of trying his hand at being some sort of superhero. Well, he has got "powers", and while they may not be the super-speed he had always wanted, Dan does have a habit of making best of what he had. In his opinion it's about time for Kreature to make his public debut.

Well, I didn't plan on making it that long, but once I got going...

Here's hoping the others are some what shorter.

Chimera



Name: Wesley Pittsley

Powers/Abilities: Animal-like physiology, with increased strength, speed, stamina, reflexes, agility, etc.

Bio:
Wesley Pittsley can't remember a time when he was happy. It wasn't when he was a kid. It certainly wasn't when he was caught in an explosion in his parents lab he was responsible for. It wasn't when he was growing up, hated and shunned by his parents. They lost everything in the explosion, their life's work gone. They never bounced back to success like the Hydes. Maybe if he Wesley hadn't confessed to being the cause of the explosion, his parents would have just thought it was an accident. He certainly wouldn't have suffered a near complete mental breakdown at just 16, due to his constant and endless attempts to make his parents proud of him, take notice of him again, to love him again, being ignored by his parents. He certainly wouldn't have left home in the dead of night 3 years ago, in the hopes the streets would hold better for him. He wouldn't be living rough, so hungry and cold.
Now after, weeks of little or no food, and a constant illness plaguing him for months, he feels now is as good as any time to die. As the hunger pains rack his body and he prepares for the end, he looks down at his hand, looks at the five tiny little scars, and remembers how he got them all those years ago.
Wesley's eyes open wide and he screams, he body hurts worse than before. He can feel and hear his bones, breaking, cracking and healing in ways there were not meant to go. His skin is itching and feels like it is peeling off. He passes out, praying this time he has died.
Hours latter, Wesley wakes up. The hunger is still there, but he doesn't feel weak like he did. He attempts to stand, but falls. Looking at his feet he see hooves. His hands are now green and scaly, and his arms are cover with fur. Crawling back to where he had been laying, he tears though his small bag looking for the small mirror he kept. Finding it, he dares not look at himself for a few moments, then does. The sight snaps his already weak mind. The beast inside him, see a chance and takes it. He is hungry. He will be fed.
More beast than man, Wesley stalks the alleys where he had been sleeping, finding another homeless man sleeping. Without hesitation, Wesley pounces on the man, and after a very brief fight, kill him and begins to eat his fill. Disturbed by the approach of people alerted by the sound of the fight, Wesley retreats down a near by sewer opening and hides away again.
For week, Wesley lives like this. Staying down in the sewers, only emerging to feed. As time passes he grows more confident, staying above ground more, hiding and sleeping in old abandoned buildings. The city folk are terrified, and the police have no idea if they are dealing with a man or beast. Burred picture and conflicting descriptions, lead the papers to being calling him the Chimera Killer.
He has now grown too confident. He feels he cannot be stopped. He is the top of the food chain, The alpha male. He begins to kill people in broad daylight, with no regards as to who sees him. It's during one of these daylight feeding times, Wesley is attacked mid-feast. Looking up at his attacker, his mind races. Competition. Fight. Kill. Win. Lashing out a fight ensues. Running on pure instinct, Wesley so soon and swiftly defeated. Tied up, thrown in a cage, and put in the back of a van. He hears only a few gabbled words from the police surrounding him.
"No need to worry now.......yeah Kreature stopped him.....Chimera will be secure in that cage "
Slowly opening his mouth, Wesley begins to speak for the first time since he changed. "Chimera....Kill....Kreature", he slowly hisses. Rage growing inside him, he tears his way out if the cage, and though the back doors of the van. He attacks the police and bystanders lingering around, and the runs back to the sewers. Now, Chimera waits for another opportunity to fight Kreature. To regain his place as alpha male. To be able to feed in peace again.

Comedy, Tragedy and Dionysus



Names: Jonathan and David Petrakis

Powers/Abilities: Able to merge their bodies into a single being, giving them superhuman strength, stamina and endurance. However, doing this for any amount of time leave the brothers physically drained and very weak once separated. The longer they are merged the more drained and weaker they are. Skilled in organised leadership, familiar with many small fire arms.

Bio:
Jonathan and David Petrakis were twins born into a Greek family, living in America. Their grandfather had left Greece to pursue a career in the theater, a passion he had received form his own father and grandfather, and that he had passed down to his own children and grandchildren. Jon and David loved the theater and acting like nothing else. It was one of the few things they had in common. Their family often wondered how two boys could look the same, yet act and be so wildly different. Where Jon was happy, optimistic and friendly, David was the exact opposite, always unhappy, pessimistic and disliked by most people.
It was a school bully's dislike for David that led the boys to discover the powers. The first time they merged, they conflicting minds in one body lashed out, their strength almost killing the bully. Afterwards, Jon was terrified. Not truly understanding what had happened and seeing the half dead bully, he confessed what had happened to teachers, the police and his parents. David denied it had happened, say the bully was beaten by a bunch of older kids. Jon story was put down to wild fantasies, but he knew it was true and felt betrayed by David. David explained he kept quiet as this was now their chance to make something of their life. David convinced Jon that they should use their powers to commit small time robberies to make some quick cash. However, not wanting to be a criminal, Jon always confessed the crimes and told anyone that would listen that he and David had powers. The conviction that he had to the story, along with David's denial that anything happened, led their parents to seek psychiatric help. Explained away as psychotic hallucinations, Jon was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, seen as a threat to his own safety.
Convinced he shouldn't be in there, Jon pleaded with David to get him out, but David stuck to his story. Telling Jon to smile and that everything would be alright, he began to see the gravity of what he had done. Doing as his brother had told him, Jon kept on smiling, and never stopped. Staying happy, and positive all the time had a devastating effect on Jon, as he delve deeper in to madness. While on the outside, David spiraled deeper into depression.
After a few years in the hospital, Jon had had enough of staying so positive while no-one believe what he said he could do, so he escaped, killing as many people as he could on his way out of the hospital, just to keep that smile on his face. Hiding out for a few days, he eventually found his brother. David was now a career criminal, a gang member under the thumb of a ruthless gang leader. Finding each other, creating a calm in each brother they had not had for a long time. David convinced Jon to join the gang with him, as he was now a wanted murderer, he couldn't go back to a normal life, and this way David could keep an eye on him. Jon was then taken to meet the gang leader whom he disliked straight away.
Jon's dislike for his new leader, grew daily, eventually become a seething hatred for the man. In Jon, David found the the perfect way usurp power of the gang from the leader into his own hands. Formulating a plan, the brother acted, and when the leader called a meeting for the various gang members, Jonathan called him out, and killed him in front of everyone, proclaiming the gang was now under his and David's control, and anyone who wished to try and take power from him should step forward now. Three men made a move. Each was dead before they hit the ground. From then on the gang had been steadily growing into a criminal empire. With Jonathan as the powerful figure head, no one will dare touch them. While David, plans and used Jonathan as a puppet for all his plans, the empire looks to grow.
Jonathan only asked one thing of David when they took over... that they make this gang a proper criminal gang, like the ones he used to read bout in comic books. Gangs with a theme or a gimmick. Not wanting to get on the wrong side of he brother David agree. They eventually settle on a theme that honors their childhood love of the theater, with Jonathan becoming Comedy and David becoming Tragedy, leaders of the Dionysus Gang.
Rumors of a mysterious third leader to the gang have begun to circulate though out the member. A man who looks like a mash of Comedy and Tragedy, who call him self Dionysus.
Jon and David, know all to well who he is,and for see a fast approaching time when Dionysus may have to make more apprentices, and get his hand dirty, especially in light of the resent spate of arms deals and robberies stopped and foiled by some some mysterious "wolfman". Jonathan is looking froward to the chance to really let loose as Dionysus, while David is cautious, seemingly being the only one who remember that a victory over this creature as Dionysus, may kill them both.

Black Death



Names: Unknown, often uses the alias Alex Sattler

Powers/Abilities: Highly skilled with most fire arms, and other weapons

Bio:
Most of Black Death's history is unknown, but it is generally assumed by most who have come into contact with him he has had some major military training. First coming to the public's attention as a violent vigilante, gunning all manner of criminals no matter what their crime. Eluding the polices attempts to find him, he didn't understand why he wasn't being seen as a great hero for cleaning up the streets. Quickly becoming bored of trying help people and getting nothing in return, he considered hanging up his guns.
However, he was contacted by some of the city's gang leaders. They wanted him to find and kill the leaders of the Dionysus Gang. For this, they promised him enough money to see him though the rest of his life in luxury. Taking the job, he eventually found two of the leaders, Comedy and Tragedy. Going for the kill, he only managed to wound Comedy on his first shot. But, before he could get his second off, he witnessed the two men become one. This new being, proceeded to chase Black Death until he was cornered in a dead end alley. With bullets bouncing off the man standing over him, Black Death resigned himself to is fate, and waited for death to come for him swiftly. The fist hit him with so much force, it knocked through the end wall of the alley and into a warehouse.
Awakening several hours later, Black Death found himself tied to a chair and in the presence of Comedy and Tragedy. The gang leaders, proceed to explain they were impressed by the fact he had gotten close enough to get a shot on them. They gave him a better offer than the other gang leaders had. In exchange for killing the other gang leaders, and from then on working exclusively for the the Dionysus Gang, he would get all the money he needed, as well as the respect he wanted. Taking up the offer, he now lives a luxury lifestyle, called on as and when needed by the Dionysus Gang.

Jack Flash



Names: Dale Jackson

Powers/Abilities: Super Speed

Bio:
Dale Jackson was born in 1943. The ultimate under achiever by age 25, he was working as a janitor in a lab owned by an eccentric scientist who was obsessed with speed. Building a machine that increased the vibrational speed of objects atoms, he hoped he could unlock the secrets of moving at superhuman speeds. Firing up the machine for its initial test, he was unaware that Dale was then walking to the lab. Distracted by Dales entrance, he did not enter the correct data the machine needed. This caused a catastrophic failure in the machine which exploded, killing the scientist and throwing Dale into a wall, knocking him out. Kept in hospital for a few days, the doctors could not explain he miraculous and speedy recovery. He soon began to notice the world around him seemed to be getting slower. People then began to comment on how he seemed to have more energy than he used to. He finally discovered he had gained the ability to move at superhuman speed when, going for a run and not concentrating on where he was going, he soon found himself miles away from home in a matter of minutes.
Feeling he had finally archived something, he did what he thought anyone in his position would do, and embarked on a career as a superhero. Fashioning a costume from some experimental fabric his former employee had given him when he decided con concentrate on the study of speed, he became Jack Flash. For the next ten years, Dale had a shining career as Jack Flash, battling his nemesis Ice Master in a series of ever more spectacular battles. It was during the climax of one of these battles, that the world lost Jack Flash. While trying to stop Ice Master from freezing over the city, Dale was plucked from time by Earth's future inhabitants to help fight a terrible war.
Many years past and the war was finally over. Although he had made a life in the future, Dale longed for home. Promised to return at the same moment he was taken, so that to the world he had left did not realized he had been gone. But something went wrong on the return trip. Rather than arriving in 1979, Dale arrived in a blaze of lights in the 2008 version of the city he had left behind. Looking around, he was surprised to see the terrified looks of the people around him. Soon surrounded by the police, Dale did all he could and he ran. Finding old clothes in a dumpster, he hid his costume and began to explore this new world. Walking down the street, he soon found himself out side a cinema, staring at a poster for an upcoming film in disbelief. Looking back at him from the poster, was a picture of himself. But he soon saw it wasn't him but a man in his costume. Coming out of his dumbstruck state, he asked a someone who the man on the poster was. The answer he got astounded him more than the poster, "The greatest comic book character of all time". He wandered about in a daze, and began to notice pictures of himself everywhere. On billboards and t-shirts, in shop windows, his image was everywhere. Unbeknown to him, at the moment he was plucked from time, the chronal energies from the time portal had mixed with the kinetic energy he was creating when running, and created a warp in reality. This warp had caused the entire world to forget about Jack Flash and all his adventures. A few years after he had disappeared, Frost Publications began to produce a comic book featuring the new and original hero "Jack Flash : The Man of Speed". From there, the snowball kept on rolling, until Jack Flash was everywhere. Dale's appearance had been explained away a promotion for the upcoming movie.
Not knowing what to do with himself now, he got his costume and planned to run and live somewhere away from the world. Reaching the edge of the city, he saw a fire raging in an apartment block. Rushing there, he tore through the building save anyone he could find. 26 people where saved by his actions that day. Not sticking around to be seen and the police attempt to arrest him again, he continued running. But he couldn't leave the city, he couldn't leave the heroics behind. So he stayed in the city, getting a job that didn't ask any questions about where he came from, and he eventually managed to find somewhere to live. Never stopping when in costume, myths and rumors of golden and crimson blur racing about the city, saving lives and helping people.
With a new hero, Kreature now operating in the city, Dale is wondering if he should maybe stop running for a moment to introduce himself to a possible ally, not knowing that meeting the character who inspired Kreature's own heroic career, would be one of the best things in the new young heroes life.

Yeah, Dionysus is the that one. I guess Two Face kind of inspired him, as did the Kleinstocks from the X-men.

Ice Master



Names: Dr Stephen Frostus

Powers/Abilities: Possesses technology that allows him to freeze objects to absolute zero. Extensive knowledge of cryonics

Bio:
Dr Stephen Frostus was an expert in the field of cryonics in it's early days. Understanding the ideas and theories and developing state of the technologies made him a well respected scientist. Eventually recruited by the government to help develop his technology for military purposes. Jumping at the chance to gain government funding for his work, he was soon working on prototype cryonics based weapons. However, years passed with no significant developments. Growing impatient the government dropped Frostus' funding. Desperate to continue he work, feeling he was on the verge of a major break through, and in need of money, he donned a containment suit to protect him from the cold and his most advance weapon, wrist mounted nozzles connected to tanks on his back, allowing him to freeze anything. Robbing a bank, he got more than enough to continue his work, but found himself enjoying the rush of crime more than he had thought. Deciding to make a career of this, he modified his containment suit and became Ice Master.
Locking horns with the hero Jack Flash through out his criminal career, Frostus' life changed the same day Jack Flash's did. During the climax of an epic battle, Jack Flash was plucked from time. The chronal energies released by this combined with his own kinetic energies causing a warp in reality. When reality realigned itself, nobody remember Jack Flash, or his battles with Ice Master, nobody remember Ice Master either. Apart from Dr Stephen Frostus.
Somehow surviving the reality warp untouched, Frostus found himself a man lost in the world, with memories of a world everyone else had forgotten. Deciding to make a fresh start, he eventually made his fortune in publishing with his company Frost Publications. Wanting to honor he missing foe, who even though was his enemy was a man Frostus respected, he decided to publish the now unknown adventures in a comic book series. This move made him millions, and Jack Flash soon became a global sensation.
But now Frostus face a new problem. The sighting of a man in Jack Flash's costume a few weeks ago has unsettled him, as have the reports of a something moving at superhuman speed saving people throughout the city. Could his old nemesis be back? Should he try to find this super fast myth and find out? And what if he has returned, how will he explain he is longer a threat? Dr Stephen Frostus is a man troubled by recent events. Only time will tell what he will do in this situation.

The Warlock



Names: Terry Alamy

Powers/Abilities: As Terry none; As the Warlock vast magical knowledge, flight, magical control over fire and ice.

Bio:
Terry Alamy if an old friend of Dan Hyde. Having been interested in magic from a young age, he has recently began to find and read old and ancient text on magic in the hope of being able to perform some himself. Finding a truly ancient and mysterious looking locked book cover in mystical symbols, Terry feels that he may have final found a way to reach his dream. Getting home, and attempting the first spell he found, he began to feel unnaturally cold, he noticed his fingers and hands turning blue. Suddenly his whole body set alight and he blacked out. Unknown to him, the book contained the spirit of an ancient Warlock, who had been imprisoned in the book for over 2,000 years.
Elated at being free from his prison he ventures in too the outside world. Not recognizing what he see, as he views the city, and not aware that 2,000 years have past, he believes he has been taken to another land filled with strange people and monsters and must find a way back home. Walking down the street, with people stopping and staring at the strange man in a hooded cloak walking past, he steps out into the road, into the path of an on coming bus. Unaware of what the vehicle was, he attacked it seeing it as a threat, causing a series of accidents and a pile up behind the bus. Fleeing the scene, he is seen by Kreature who starts to follow him.
Hours later, Kreature finds the Warlock on the roof top of a building, looking out at the city. Kreature crept up, readying to attack him, but was knocked back by a force field. The Warlock did not move. Deciding to take a different approach, Kreature tried talking to him. Eventually the Warlock responded, telling Kreature he had realized he was no longer in his own time period, and that he should not have attacked the bus. He told Kreature he would not interfere in this modern world, and that he would spend he time attempting to find his way home. With that he flew away, leaving Kreature alone on the roof top. Returning to Terry Alamy's home, the Warlock's spirit left Terry's body and entered the book once more, now knowing he was able to leave the book and enter his host anytime. Terry awoke with no memory of what happened, assuming he was just extremely tired and had fallen asleep.
Now the Warlock frequently uses a sleeping Terry's body to spend time in the world, to attempt to find a way back to his own time.

Well, that's all that done.

Expect some new stuff soon, some Authority, maybe some more Tangent stuff, I might even get back into doing some more Titans.
