Marvel Comics - Canon Chronology

So uh...

Some of you may know that I'm not that expert on Comics as most of the other creators around here. I know about most of the main characters backgrounds, some of their adventures and stuff. But geez, I got really lost when visiting ZBB for the first time and I saw like all of those characters, from super teams unknown to me, alternate universes and canon episodes. Dude, I remember when Watchmen movie came out I felt like a siiner for never having heard of the comics before.

Just recently I decided to give turn my attentions into comics due to a discussion with a nerd-wannabe around here about the possibilty of the Penguin facing Superman in battle, due to a Carnival hit we had this year. The lyrics says "Superman got weak, Penguin used kryptonite". He said that was impossible because Superman didn't exist in Batman's universe, otherwise he'd just punch all of Gotham's villains to the sun and yaddah-yaddah-yaddah. Now as I said I may not be the sharpest knife on the comics drawer, but I know enough to know that would be possible for Penguin or any other Batman/non-Superman related villain to face Superman in a battle (doesn't mean they'd actually win tho).

Anyway, my first move into the Marvelous World of Comics was none other than the 102 issue arc "Civil War", by Marvel Comics. I knew there was the registration, the Cap x Iron clash and that stuff before reading it, but dude, there was much more than that, I simply loved it.

When reading about the Civil War on internet, I found out about many other story arcs, like Secret Invasion, Secret War, House of M and many others.

I'm planning on finding and reading all of those storylines, but before that, I have a request for all of you here on MIB.

I just wish to know the Chronologic order of all of the Marvel crossover arcs so far (and if possible, a short synopsis on each one), so I can start searching them in the right order. I tried to find that kind of list on internet but failed miserably.

Besides, should be fun and healthy exercising a bit of comics knowledge, right?

i can help with some general knowledge of everything since house of m (which i believe is the first of the onslaught of major marvel events) but first here is just a list of the 'order' and a one sentence bio
House of M- wanda maximoff goes crazy and creates a differant reality
Civil war- you know that one
world war hulk- hulk comes back to earth after being sent away, with a vengance
secret invasion- a skrull invasion thats been in the making for decades, finally launches
dark reign- norman osborn becames the new 'top cop' in america, and leads his own avengers and x-men
siege- norman osborn attacks asgard

right now marvel has started their 'heroic age' which isnt really an event but the begining of a new age of comics, where the hero's finally get to win some from time to time
and the new big event 'fear itself' has just begun, and this is about an ancient asgardian god of fear rising and brining the earth and all other earths destructions.



(P.S. those events are just the ones of the last 5 years or so)

Hum... I thought House of M was a What IF universe...

House of M was a what if but it did happen. Wanda remade the universe but then undid it and it had repercussions that effected other titles. If your gonna read House of M read endangered species- messiah complex- manifest destiny- utopia- nation x- and utopia/dark avengers. And quarantine

one other note, i suggest you read secret war (not secret wars) its the prelude to civil war, also questers right house of m set of A LOT with the x-men in the modern M U.
