advice on GIF making

hey guys....I would like to make an animation of one of my characters going from street clothes to his "hero uniform" but I have NO IDEA how to make an animation...I do know it will be a lot of work making all the different stages of the animation and such, but any and all help would be appreciated.

I have windows 7 (not my favorite OS by the way) and the ms paint that comes with it, I also have another photo software but I have no idea how to use it. Is it possible to make an animation using MS Paint and how would I accomplish this?

Also, I am including a pool for you guys to choose which Character I should do as well.....

In the tutorials section there is Irfanveiw. I use it to do my animations you also need unfreeze wich is in the tutorials as well. You can use ms paint to do these which is what I mainly use. You save each frame seperatley, then in Iveiw you can change it to gif and if you want you can change the background, but just don't use the same color on the micro. Then in unfreeze you place the order of pics you want and you can choose the speed you want as well.
