- Choupette? I took three years of French in college and still can read it somewhat, but my French is really rusty. Does that translate to anything in English or is it just a name? Sounds kind of feminine; did they change his gender for the French releases of the Love Bug films?
I don't remember is the car is referred to as a he or a she. But a car (in French : Une voiture) is feminine. All objects have genders in France. we don't have "it". Id doesn't really translate to anything in English. It's a word you can use when you talk to a little you don't know the name, or it can be a pet name for some of your female friends. It's not in the dictionary. Now, how to pronounce it ? Well, that's more complicated. Chou is easy it's "shoo" But the -pette part is more complicated to explain. But you are lucky, I was able to find the french trailer for Herbie: Fully Loaded. you can here Coupette's name 3 times. http://www.allocine.fr/video/player_gen_cmedia=18390617&cfilm=57736.html _________________ Templates update : September the 30th 2020 -///- Gallery update : April 2nd 2022 ReImagining MMPR my universe. | Thanks, everyone, for the comments on Herbie! Just so this topic doesn't fall off the board completely, back to Trek: Ens. Mulcahey ( USS Voyager) *Mulcahey appeared in "Drone," and then was mentioned several times throughout the run of Voyager.

| [continuing on Herbie] You'll be happy to know I manage to find a way to english people to pronounce Herbie's french name : Choupette. Like I said above the "Chou-" part is pronounced "shoo" and the "-pette" part is pronounced "pet" like a pet, you know, a puppy, a kitten, a goldfish. A pet.[/end of Herbie talk] _________________ Templates update : September the 30th 2020 -///- Gallery update : April 2nd 2022 ReImagining MMPR my universe. | I have always liked the Love Bug. I like the original movies better than the recent Lindsay Lohan movie though. | |

BTW, is anyone else here a member at SuperBuddies.net? I can't get the forum or my profile to come up. I get an "sql error," whatever that is. Is it just me or is everyone having this problem? The Car looks great! Great job on the other ones to! | |

| More spies: The Unsung Heroes of Stalag 13 (from Hogan's Heroes). Col. Robert Hogan, commanding officer Cpl. Louis LeBeau, chef Cpl. Peter Newkirk, pickpocket and safecracker Sgt. James Kinchloe, operations manager *Kinch's first name was given only twice on the series. The first time it was James, the second time it was Ivan. I'm using James since it came first. Sgt. Andrew Carter, demolitions expert *In the first episode, Carter wasn't a member of the team. He was a lieutenant who escaped from another stalag. At the end, he was sent to a submarine to be transported to England. I guess he got demoted and sent back to the camp. Sgt. Richard Baker, radio operator *In season 6, Kinch was replaced by Baker. Kinch's disappearance never was explained. Sgt. Vladimir Minsk, tailor *Minsk was the original fifth member of the team in the pilot episode. He was replaced for the series by Carter. Presumably, he was still around, since there never was a successful, "official" escape from Stalag 13. Sgt. Olsen, the outside man *Sgt. Olsen was the unofficial sixth member of the team, appearing in a handful of episodes. Sgt. Olsen's job was to trade places with the incoming prison escapees being processed through the camp, and then switch back so they could leave the stalag undetected. He also filled in for Newkirk in the episode "Some of Their Planes Are Missing" (Newkirk's absence was unexplained). His resemblance to Hogan was used to great advantage once or twice. Sgt. Thomas *Sgt. Thomas appeared only once (in "War Takes a Holiday"), but was a member of the team acting in place of Carter (whose absence also went unexplained). Scotty, the petty theft man *Scotty appeared fairly often in the background, but in "Go Light on the Heavy Water," he served as the team's fifth member, replacing an absent LeBeau (who was mentioned, but not present). Helga, informant and manicurist *Kommandant Klink's first secretary (before Hilda). In the opening episode, Helga was down in the tunnels giving manicures to the prisoners, making her a full-fledged spy. I've always assumed that unlike Hilda, she was an operative or a member of the Underground, possibly planted in Klink's office. (That might explain why she left after a year. Maybe her assignment got too risky.)

| Thanks, all! I added Scotty (who I had forgotten ) to the post above. Hyperman, I might do ones of Klink and Schultz later; for now, I decided to just do the underground team. I was in a silly mood today. One of my childhood "heroes": Super Grover! | |

| Thanks, everyone! Sorry to have been absent so long, but I had a temporary job over the holidays and then I caught a bad cold and was too sick to do anything. Haven't made much lately, so this is a small update. Another Hogan's hero: Pvt. Tony Garlotti *Garlotti appeared only once, but his family's pizza recipe was crucial to the plot of "The Pizza Parlor." | |
