Blue Beetles Gallery

Kicking off my gallery with some micro's from Grant Morrison's Doom Patrol run. Got to say this was my favorite DP run, and when making these micro's i realized just how twisted Grant's imagination really is. For every micro i post i try to post a reference scan with it. I will post the link to the scan, so i don't crowd the message board with ref scans.

first off we start with a character that showed up in Doom Patrol 46, it didn't really have a name expect it said over and over again, it it the time already? The cape is from a template, no clue who made it.

Emissaries of the Orthodoxy first appeared in Doom Patrol 38.

Frenzy was an illiterate man whose mother had abandoned him. He wore a garish outfit covered with symbols, a top hat, and two bicycle wheels on his back. He could turn into a living cyclone. He was from the first version of Brotherhood of Dada, the reference is from Doom Patrol 27. Top hat and hair from template, no clue who the creator was.

A Japanese woman with a fear of dirt, The Quiz had every power you hadn't thought of. To make her lose a power, you had to shout out its name. Because of her fear of dirt, she wore a long gown/gas mask that was decorated with question marks similar to the Riddler's outfit. The powers she exhibited were: flight, mimicing appearances, turning people to glass, turning back time, dematerilization, making things large, turning people into toilets filled with flowers, and the power to make escape-proof spirit jars. She was from the first version of Brotherhood of Dada, the reference is from Doom Patrol 27.

Fear the Sky are a bunch of an assassinions from a cult (don't remember the cult name on top of my hand too lazy to dig in a long box to refind the comic lol), they appeared in Doom patrol 31, also where the reference scan is from. I used a suit template, it was a perfect match to the refernce scan suits, i think Robert Bradley made the suit temps.

Honest man and Lair Man from Doom Patrol 22.

Love Glove was obsessed with the Sixties. One day, he dreamt of the Glove Tree, a mysterious tree with gloves instead of leaves. Upon waking from the dream, he found his arms gone, but the Love Glove in place of his right hand. He can use it like a normal arm, but can also extend the distance beyond arm's length. He is also given the ability to revisit the Glove Tree, and use any of the left-handed gloves on it. Some of the other gloves used are the Shove Glove, which possesses enormous strength, and the Techno Glove, which grants him mechanical knowlegde and expertise. He was from the second version of Brotherhood of Dada, the reference is from Doom Patrol 49.

The Fog gained the ability to turn into a psychedelic death cloud capable of absorbing people. The people he absorbed could still communicate, and the voices started to drive him mad. He was from the first version of Brotherhood of Dada, the reference is from Doom Patrol 26. Jacket is from template no clue who creator is though.

Crazy Jane who suffers from multiple personality disorder. As a result of exposure to the alien Dominators' "gene bomb", each of her 64 alternate personalities has a different super-power. The reference is from Doom Patrol 15.

Youve got a nice set there

Red Jack is a near-omnipotent being who thinks he is both Jack the Ripper and God. He lives in a house without windows, torturing butterflies, and cannot materialize in the world. This micro i made over two years ago (i used to go under the name Red Tornado in the lilguys group), hardly done any changes to it, just reposting it as part of the set.

Mr. Nobody is a micro i also did two years ago, but didn't like it and decided to re-do it.

This last micro, is also an old one, and i do very little to it.

The Scissormen, a fictional race of beings that attack non-fictional beings in the "real world" (i.e., the world the Doom Patrol live in) with the large scissors that they have instead of hands and literally cut people out of reality.

I personally feel that this has got to be one of the most impressive galleries to date. NO ONE has ever attempted to translate the abstract characters of Morrison's Doom Patrol to this degree. You have done an EXCELLENT job! I tip my hat to you and give you gentle applause!!!

My only constructive critisism would be to work on the shading a bit to make it a little more dramatic. Your Red Jack and your Honest Man/Liar Man could've been so much better if you could work on the shading a bit more...

I do have one simple request... I painted this guy on my bedroom wall when I was in High School, and I truly do love him...

thank you Kid Chaos!, Robes for some reason are the hardest for me to do, but i do plan on reshading them and releasing them sometime in the future. I also want to do his characters and villains from his vertigo invisible series from vertigo. they were some weird characters as well.

this is mr. evans from Doom Patrol #42, a very strange character that has a periscope that comes out of his head and a baby that comes out of his stomach.

Captain kiss made an appearance in Doom Patrol 48 where he fought and was killed by Mr. Evans.



Triangle i am not happy with, but looking at the first reference scan that is how it looks when he is looking straight forward.

twizted_micros there are some characters that are so twisted i am trying to fiqure out how i am going to make them into micro's.

At the start of Grant Morrison's run of the Doom Patrol, Rhea was put into a coma that would last until halfway into the series. While in the hospital, she was kidnapped by the butterfly collector known as Red Jack, who claimed to be God, Jack the Ripper, and many others. He sought to make Rhea his bride. The new Doom Patrol followed after Jack into his house, which our world is a room in. As he battled the Doom Patrol, Rhea awoke from her a coma and stabbed Jack in the back, then immediately became comatose again.

Brought back to the Doom Patrol's new mountainside headquarters, Niles Caulder, the Chief, did experiments on Rhea showing that her coma wasn't normal. She was instead going through a form of metamorphosis, and her human form is the chrysalis.

Rhea awoke from her coma in issue #36. It was revealed that she was The Pupa, a weapon sought by the aliens Orthodoxy and Geomancers. Rhea metamorphosized into a magnetic butterfly, explaining why she was sought out by Red Jack. After awaking, her facial features disappeared and her eyes were now on her chest and back. Her ears had also become two twinkling lights.

Rhea was actually what some call a Lodestone, a being in tune with the Earth's elctromagnetic waves, it's nerve system. They are the Earth's expression in flesh.

A messenger from Templar Central, can appear in any room that has wallpaper, and peels himself off the wall, and walks around as a wallpaper man, hence his name, appeared in Doom Patrol #55.

The Ossuary the gaurds to the Great Cathederal of Orqwith and also royal gaurds to honest and Liar Man. Appeared in Doom Patrol #22.
